Who can invest in AIFs?
AIF investments are accessible to Resident Indians, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and foreign nationals.
For individual investors, the minimum investment threshold is ₹1 crore. However, fund managers, directors, and employees associated with the fund are eligible to invest a minimum of ₹25 lakh.
Each AIF scheme typically allows up to 1,000 investors, except in the case of angel funds, which can accommodate a maximum of 200 investors.
A minimum investment horizon of three years is required, with no interim liquidity available in close-ended schemes.
